Admissions
To enroll your child in The Chalkboard Pre-School of Chicago, please complete our secure On-line Registration Form or call the school at 312-266-2573 to make an appointment to see the school and meet the teachers. You are welcome to bring your child along to this meeting. Children may be enrolled at anytime during the year providing there is a vacancy. We also ask that the pre-school be notified within a reasonable amount of time if you will be taking your child out of the program.
HEALTH OF CHILDREN
If this is your child’s first year at The Chalkboard Pre-School a medical form must be filled out by your child’s doctor and returned before the child may enter the Pre-school. If you have not received a medical from please contact the school immediately. For our returning students some might need an updated form. You will be notified if this is the case. The Board of Health requires any child entering school to have a lead screening as well as a chicken pox vaccination.
Check your child carefully before bringing them to the pre-school. If there are signs of a cold, temperature, sore throat or fatigue this should be ample reason to keep your child at home.
Please notify the pre-school immediately if your child becomes ill with a contagious disease. Incidental absences need not be reported.
If an emergency arises during school hours, we will make every effort to contact the parents. If this is unsuccessful a doctor will be called.
THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN AND FAMILY SERVICES IS ALSO NOW REQUIRING A COPY OF EACH CHILD’S BIRTH CERTIFICATE TO BE IN THEIR FILE. PLEASE PROVIDE ONE FOR YOUR CHILD THE FIRST DAY OF CLASSES.
BRINGING THINGS TO PRE-SCHOOL
Please help your child remember to keep toys at home unless they are meaningful in some special way to the theme of the week. Books they would like us to read to the class are always welcome. If we ask for special items to be brought from home, PLEASE LABEL CLEARLY.
CHILD’S CLOTHING
Dress your child in simple washable play clothes! Please label all jackets, boots, sweaters and mittens. Please send a change of clothing for your child to keep at school in a clearly labeled plastic shoe box. Dress your child according to the weather since outdoor activities are often planned.
PARENT PARTICIPATION
Parents are welcome to share a special talent. Check the schedules to see where you might fit in. Participation assures your child that you are interested in what he or she is doing and gives you a chance to see your child’s relationship with other children in the classroom environment. Although parent participation is not required, parents are welcome anytime.
INFORMATION TO FOLLOW
On the first day of pre-school you will be receiving a schedule of weekly themes for the first weeks of pre-school. Soon after pre-school starts you will be receiving a class list complete with names, addresses and telephone numbers.
