Staff
Sherry Kopka
Sherry owns and directs The Chalkboard. She has directed the programs at the school since 1977 and purchased the school in 1978. Before The Chalkboard Sherry taught at Lake Shore Montessori and Edgewater Primary. She holds a degree in Elementary Education. Sherry teaches all programs along with long time associate Jane Kristak , Kerry Hanson and Rachel Farrales.
Jane
Jane has worked with Sherry since 1979 and also teaches all classes. Jane brings a strong art background to Chalkboard as well as many years working with children.
Kerry
Kerry joined The Chalkboard staff in 2006 and also teaches all classes. Kerry graduated from University of Wisconsin and has several years of teaching experience. Before joining our staff Kerry taught the past four years at a Montessori preschool.
Rachel
Rachel has worked with Chalkboard Pre-School for the past 3 years. Rachel has an extensive background working with children. She has spent the past four years as a Diet Technician at Children’s Memorial Hospital. She has also volunteered with The Chicago Childcare Collective and Americorp Group. Through the Americorp Group Rachel helped provide music instruction to elementary school children and helped with summer field trips. We are very excited to have Rachel as part of our Chalkboard family.
